Millennium Brings on Big Hitters as Advisors

Millennium Management is bringing on two former government bigwigs to
advise it on the regulatory landscape as greater regulation of the asset
class is almost certain.

Former SEC Chairman Harvey Pitt and Louis Freeh, the ex-FBI director,
will join a special board to advise the firm on regulatory matters,
Simon Lorne, Millennium's chief legal officer told HedgeFund.net.

While a few other hedge fund firms have appointed advisory boards,
Millennium's focus on regulation is unusual, Lorne said.

With national and international legislation threatened, the focus on
regulation makes sense. Both Congress and the European Union are
considering legislation requiring hedge fund registration and otherwise
placing restrictions on the $2 trillion industry.

The board will help Millennium "see the bigger trends and be prepared
for them," Lorne said.

The new board also includes Peter Clapman, former chief counsel for
TIAA-CREF, who brings an institutional investment perspective, he said.

Stanley Sporkin, who headed the SEC enforcement division and is a
retired federal judge, and former SEC commissioners Aulana Peters and
Joseph Grundfest are also on the advisory board.

Millennium Management, founded by Israel Englander, has about $7.8
billion in assets under management.
