Yep. I think we have even identified a lobbyist for them. We made some calls yesterday. Right alex? Eric and hunter do u have a lobbyist in mind? We have the admin interested. But so fsar no one with the power/intention of a threat to overule Rogoff. We just have him listening to us. From my discussions so far I don't think the WH or the Secy will overule him if he doesn't come along as well. ----- Original Message ----- From: hbiden@rosemontseneca.com <hbiden@rosemontseneca.com> To: Hilary Rosen Cc: Eric Schwerin <eschwerin@rosemontseneca.com> Sent: Tue Sep 14 17:28:18 2010 Eric (my partner) was going to send you an email tonight. I told him I thought we (my group) should make the case that CAF USA needs to step up it's appeal to key members who could in turn appeal to WH/ DOT. Their outreach to date seems anemic at best. A call here a personal appeal there, "Tomar will handle it..." etc... They need Menendez (very involved in US- Spain business counsel) to take the lead (not Lautenberg- they hate each other) they need him to go to Schumer and raise an alarm that NY is in jeopardy of loosing hundreds of jobs and go to Steny and point out that MD faces the same fate in the loss of supplier jobs. And they need that to happen yesterday. So far I don't think anyone has even reached out to Gillibrand. You clearly have pulled them from the abyss, but the notion they haven't hired a world class lobbyist as they have a world class PR firm is ridiculous. I want to send that message but only if it doesn't interfere with the direction you are headed. I obviously can't lobby, but if I could I would be in Schumer's office begging and arguing for jobs in NY. The second thing we wanted to say is that they need a plan B. If FTA stands firm can they at least acknowledge that Metro not CAF USA was the bad actor. If they loose the Metro bid they still have the Amtrak bid to fulfill and they want to compete in FL and CA and the mid-west. Anyway, I or Eric will send you a draft of what we are proposing and if it is in line with your thinking I will send it- if it's not I'll keep my thoughts to myself. R.
