David,
Nice to meet you (virtually).
Your project sounds interesting and I too have been spending a
great deal of time getting the Turks to talk with the Israels (I’ve been
focusing on commercial relations and since 15% of all Israeli exports go to
Turkey, both sides have proved receptive).
I’d be happy to meet with Mr. Gundogdu (and you?) on Monday. In
fact, since I have a meeting at the Turkish Consulate at 2:30pm that day, may I
suggest we meet at 12:30pm for lunch?
Why don’t we meet at 12:30pm at the Turkish Kitchen at 386 3rd
Ave between 27th and 28th? It’s one of the better Turkish
restaurants in NYC; I hosted a dinner for Trade Minister Caglayan there about
two weeks ago after the American Turkish Council meeting in DC.
Will you be there as well?
Please let me know.
Best,
Sam
PS I’ve been to Adana – I attended the economic conference there two years ago.
It’s beautiful – and nothing compares to Adana kebab!!

Sam:
It is nice to meet you by email.
As
Eric mentioned, I
have been working with American, Turkish and Israeli colleagues to launch
a private project connecting rising leaders in each country in
order to address the business and policy challenges (and
opportunities) facing the trilateral relationship. It would be
great to meet to hear about your work with Turkey as well as share details
about this effort with you.
My
Turkish colleague in this initiative, Gokhan Gundogdu - a businessman from
Adana - is in the New York area for the next couple weeks, and
specifically will be in Manhattan this coming Monday, if there is any chance
you might have time to meet then? If not, it would be great to
speak with you in person or by phone whenever might work.
Best,
David

Sam-
I'd like to introduce you to David Halperin at CAP (contact
info below and cc:ed here). Hunter and David were talking recently about
Turkey and Hunter mentioned the work you are doing in NY State with Turkey and
David thought that you would both have some mutual interests. David is
working on a Israel/Turkey/US related project that you would find interesting.
Perhaps it might make sense for the two of you to talk and/or get together.
I am sure you know a number of people in common.
Let us know if the two of you have trouble connecting.
Best,
Eric
