A plum post for Clinton fundraiser

Thursday, December 2, 2010

Another member of Team Clinton heads to the State Department:Beth Dozoretz has landed the plum job as director of the Art in Embassies program. The longtime Democratic fundraiser and Washington socialite has close ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton: Dozoretz was the first woman to serve as DNC finance chair in 1999, and the former president is godfather to her daughter.

Dozoretz will be responsible for the art displayed in U.S. embassies around the globe. Working with staff curators, the office coordinates loans from American artists and collectors, buys art for permanent collections for new embassies and selects works by artists in the host countries to display in ambassadorial residences.

"I'm very excited," she told us from Miami Beach, where she's meeting with artists and collectors at the prestigious Art Basel show - just one week after she started the job. "I've never worked in government before." Always nice to start at the top.
