Again, practice for the girls will be at TBC. As for parents, we will also meet at TBC, but we do not yet know where specifically. Sorry to be so vague.

Should we perhaps bring some different food, rather than the usual crew stuff, if they’re not racing? Or do you want me to stick with that?Dear All,
It's been a wet spring....very wet. As a result, the Charlie Butt Regatta, scheduled for tomorrow/Saturday, has been cancelled. I'll let you read the email below from the organizer of the regatta. It says it all. As you can imagine, we are all quite disappointed.
The coaches would like to have a land practice with the girls tomorrow/Saturday at 10 am. They should bring their running shoes. Following their practice, we will have an early picnic lunch and brief senior recognition program. We hope that all families will be able to come down at 10 am to socialize. We have had so few of these opportunities this season, and we thought it would be a good team and morale builder. So please join us as we recognize the seniors and their parents, and bask in each other's good company. We should be done by noon to 12:15 pm.

All,
It's a very painful decision, but the right one. We are going to cancel the regatta because of unsafe water conditions on the Potomac. This decision has been reached in consultation with some coaches and VASRA officials.
The Potomac river is scheduled to crest tomorrow morning at 8.5 feet above normal. Not only will the rising water and debris be extremely dangerous to rowers and equipment, but our venue at Thompson Boat Center will no longer be available once the river reaches 8 feet and rules require they close their dock.
Even if Thompsons were to remain open, the river conditions -- especially for novice rowers on the Potomac for the first time -- would be treacherous. I was rowing on the course this morning and found the current and debris dangerous even for an experienced rower. Conditions are predicted to deteriorate by tomorrow morning.
As the Regatta Director working with many of you, I'm very aware of all the effort, preparation, and anticipation that so many athletes, parents, and officials put into this event. Thank you.
Chris Walsh
