Jim and Team,

We condensed your questions into broader topics that we wanted to discuss in an effort to accelerate the scheduling process. Leif offered next Monday (6/6) between 9am-12pm as a potential meeting date/time. Does that work with your calendars? A 10:30am/11am start time works best on our end.

Our thought was to get the meeting scheduled and then start a back and forth with Leif on topics of interest, etc to ensure the meeting is productive for both sides. Please let me know if that time slot works and we can go from there.

Best,

Mike

Thanks Mike – let us know how the discussions go with him …. Maybe they have an entirely different topic of interest which would be good to know

Thanks Mike  …. A few questions to consider , and I invite Mike I and Nick A to also add to ( questions we might ask Beverly Swaim-Staleys chief –of-staff ., in oreder to tailor discussions at a meeting )

Meeting yet to be scheduled

Some questions “

·          What is their overall outlook on funding and their work program ?  how do they view possible US Congress driven  reductions in federal TR funding ?  is that a major threat to their program ?    Views on Congressman Mica  and his priorities ?

·          How have their toll rate increase public meetings been going ?  expecting much opposition ?  interested in talking to any of our folks who have been involved in helping agencies put together toll increase public involvement programs etc ??

·          It seems that SHA has done quite a bit of design-build procurement , and is pretty happy with it , especially  on the ICC.   Would MTA consider using DB procurement for some or all of the Red and Purple lInes ?   interst in our national perspective having seen a variety of DB procurement methodologies around the country , and HNTB has been on both the Owners Rep side and the DB Team side

·          What additional revenue sources might they be looking at to combat continued erosion of the gas tax buying power ??  looking at more tolling ??  Traditional toll-revenue bond financing , or P3  ?  would they be interested in whats going on around North America in the transportation world in P3 ??  Again HNTB has been both the owners rep and on P3 teams on a number of major P3 programs around the country

·         What other emerging trends and/or bothersome issues do they see coming , or dealing with now ?

Per our call this morning, please send us over a list of questions to help narrow down the scope of the proposed meeting with Leif (MDOT Chief of Staff). From there we can hammer down a date and time for the meeting.

Best,

Mike
