 Dear Friends,

Greetings from your PA Community Service Clerks.

The September edition of the Upper School Community Service Newsletter may be found on the Community Service webpage on the SFS website. You can access the webpage by using this link http://www.sidwell.edu/upper-school/community-service/index.aspx You will find the newsletter halfway down the middle of the page. It highlights upcoming and recent community service events taking place at the Upper School, including service trips that students may be interested in participating.  Also, detailed below is the calendar of community service events in the coming months, which may be of interest to your family.

URGENT  : Parent Volunteers needed Wednesday, September 21 - Food Bank at Garrison ES

David Connell, Director of US Community Service needs parent volunteers on Wednesday, September 21, 4 pm - 7 pm,  or any portion of that period. Volunteers are needed to help pack and distribute donated non-perishable food items at Garrison Elementary School 1200 S St. NW. (Nearest Metro Station: U Street).  This is a new community service project that is organized by The Community Actions Club, US student community service club, in partnership with Martha's Table.  This service project, which will take place on the third Wednesday (4 - 7 pm ) of every month, is a concrete way for our school community to address the problems of hunger and lack of access to healthy food in the D.C. community.  If you are able to join us on Wednesday 21, please contact David Connell (202 537-8182) or connelld@sidwell.edu  as soon as possible.  Please note that younger students or siblings of US students are welcome to participate in this service project if they are accompanied by an adult.
