I originally did say that, but then I guess I thought about possibly not getting the job.  I don't want him to think that I was out there looking to leave him.  I don't want to put anyone in a difficult place.  I look forward to hearing from his office.

Ok I thought you said you wanted to talk to the Sen first. I will talk to Dad and arrange a time this week.

Remember, we talked about meeting with the VP first to see if VP even wants me to work for him?  What if I tell my boss and then I don't get the job with the VP?

I want to talk to him first.  I have to.  He has been so good to me and I want him to understand.  Give me until tomorrow.

Would you like me to see when you can meet with VP? If we go down this road he will be calling your boss first. I don't know the gap btw what you make now and Michele but we I bet it can be covered. How do you want me to proceed?

I looked up Michelle's salary and I do make more than she does.  And I actually took a paycut to come here.  Thanks for thinking of me, Hunter.  And if the salary issue is flexible, I would welcome the chance to talk to the VP's office.  As I said, I think I have a good idea of the job description, and you know that I'm a team player.  And who wouldn't want to work for the VP!!!  Let me know what you want me to do.  And of course this is just between us.  Thanks again.

Michele is the primary gatekeeper for the VP. She's pretty much involved in everything that goes on outside of policy. In many ways I think she is last word on most everything that involves his time. She's also the conduit everyone goes through to get to him. She also handles all personal stuff.  I assume the salary is commensurate or higher than similar position in Senate but I don't know (I think all WH salaries are public- you may be able to find it online). Eric would be a good person to talk to about it.  Call if/ when you want me to tell Dad you are interested and I'm sure Michele would also want to talk to you at some point. I don't know who else they were considering but I thought you would be great.
