Dear Chairman,

Deepest condolences to you and your family.

I have established a relationship with an impressive group of Chinese business leaders. I use the word “impressive” because, despite their company’s tremendous success within a relatively short period of time, they have not lost sight of the importance of giving back to society, evidenced by their global philanthropy.

Founded in 2002, China Energy Fund Committee (“CEFC China”) is a privately owned energy development company that has energy, gas, and financial services as its core businesses. Its strategy is “to serve the national industrial interest by building a modernized ‘economic community’ to compete as a multinational enterprise that expands cooperation in the international energy economy and achieves influence in the energy industry.”

It has been lauded for its focus on promoting health and education and for addressing global poverty.

CEFC is recognized domestically as well as internationally for its role as a responsible corporate citizen. The former was evident as it was tagged to be part of the delegation Chinese President Xi Jinping brought with him recently to the U.S., although it had to forego participation due to a previous commitment.

Some of CEFC China’s notable achievements to date include:

-         In 2014, CEFC China made the Fortune Global 500 List and was recognized one of the world’s 500 “Most Influential Brands,” achieving annual revenues exceeding 220 billion RMB.

-         In 2008, its Chairman, Mr. Ye Jianming, established an NGO—CEFC Hong Kong—the purpose of which is to promote research on climate change and environmental economics, international cooperation, sustainable development, etc. and to conduct forums by which the world’s civilizations can explore and build upon a common foundation of business ethics. Other NGO entities funded by CEFC China have followed, such as CEFC Shanghai Charity Fund to promote Chinese culture.

-         In 2012, CEFC China initiated the “Sino-US Colloquium,” a summit conference seeking to establish a lasting communication’s link through non-governmental channels for use by Chinese and U.S. scholars, business leaders and former officials for in-depth exchanges on issues of mutual concern, such as energy, security, science and technology, economy, culture, etc.

-        In 2013, the United Nations granted CEFCChina’s NGO “Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations,” based on CEFC China’s philanthropic focus. In this capacity, it has joined with the U.N. in launching the “Power the Future We Want” initiative, providing an annual grant to institutions or individuals demonstrating leadership and innovation by promoting sustainable energy technologies.

-         It received the 2014 “Most Influential Chinese Enterprises.”

-         For the past four years it has been recognized as one of the “Top Ten Chinese Philanthropic Enterprises.”

Various former U.S. government officials, including Henry Kissinger and Robert McFarland, have had long-term working relationships with CEFC China, as have had foreign dignitaries, including Israel’s former Prime Minister Shimon Peres, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, the Prince of UAE, and the Prince of Saudi Arabia.

Additional information concerning CEFC is available on its websites at www.cefcChina.comwww.cefc.org.hk and www.cefc-ngo.co/en.

With this background, please allow me to explain my purpose in contacting you.

CEFC China is very interested in exploring humanitarian initiatives of mutual interest to the World Food program USA and discussing investment opportunities with Burnham.

Topics for discussion would include a donation to the WFP, establishment of a joint humanitarian fund, and extending invitations for the B's to speak in China, etc.

All expenses will be covered as well as speaking engagements.

Please contact me as soon as possible so that I can provide you with additional information in person.

All the best,
