My meeting with Colin did not last very long, but didn't go too bad, I think. What is suboptimal is that OVP seems to be outside the decision-making loop on the UNSG elections issue. Colin promised to get better informed on what's going on at the moment.

Come what may, this is the best channel to the vicinity of the top that I have hit so far. I must do my best to nurture the contact.

My working meetings at the State (UN Director) and NSC (same) were genuinely polite and professional, but no new developments that I can report.

July 21st is just around the corner. I hope we'll be able to make enough progress between now and then‎ so that the US doesn't vote "discourage". All else has been more-less taken care of.
