Nov 16 (Reuters) - Chris Shumway, founder of the $9 billion hedge fund Shumway Capital, will step back from his day-to-day investment role, according to media reports. Shumway, who founded his firm in 2002 after working closely with hedge fund industry pioneer Julian Robertson at Tiger Management, will become Shumway Capital's chief executive, according to reports in industry magazine Absolute return and Bloomberg. Tom Wilcox, will take over the chief investment officer role at the Greenwich, Connecticut-based fund in January, the reports said. Shumway has extended the redemption request period for investors in its funds until Dec. 3 due to the restructuring, Absolute Return reported on Tuesday. The above might be due to the bad year they are having. Arlene Busch 312-498-9595 mobile abusch@contegocapital.com
