My goal for this summer is to find an internship that will strengthen my
understanding of the inner workings of the development sector and put what
I'm learning both in my classes and in the Global Development Lab to work.

My main area of interest is women's rights, especially in the the fields of
women's reproductive healthcare, women's education, women's political
empowerment and reduction of violence against women in developing
countries. I greatly admire and respect the work that the UN– and in
particular UN Women– does in regards to the goals they outlined in the UN's
2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. I particularly admire UN Women's
commitment to reducing violence against women and advocating for their
political, social and economic empowerment.

With that being said, I am very interested in any internship that has to do
with groups or firms that focus on initiative and policy research and
writing. Women's rights are my #1 interest, but I'm also very interested in
HIV/AIDS education, prevention and treatment, food and water scarcity
relief and conflict resolution in developing countries. For a frame of
reference, I'm currently looking into internships here in LA for this
spring and fall with groups as specific as the Samburu Project and as broad
as the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, as well as internships with
social impact consulting groups like Propper Daley and Good Corps. My
longterm goal or dream is to work for the UN, USAID or the State Department.

I am available from June 18 until September 15.
