By Elena Schneider | 02/14/2017 10:02 AM EDT With Kevin Robillard The following newsletter is an abridged version of Campaign Pro's Morning Score. For an earlier morning read on exponentially more races - and for a more comprehensive aggregation of the day's most important campaign news - sign up for Campaign Pro today. POST MORTEM - "Priorities USA strategizes for winning back Obama voters who switched to Trump," by Campaign Pro's Kevin Robillard: "Democrats can win back voters who helped reelect former President Barack Obama in 2012 but switched to President Donald Trump in 2016, a new memo from Priorities USA argues, specifically pointing to non-college educated women as a key demographic for the party to target going forward. The super PAC, which played an important role in backing Obama in 2012 and supporting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016, commissioned two major Democratic pollsters - Global Strategy Group and the Garin-Hart-Yang Research Group - to look at both vote-switchers and so-called 'turnout voters' who pulled the lever for Obama in 2012 but stayed home four years later. The two pollsters conducted focus groups in Wisconsin, Michigan and Florida and an online survey of 801 Obama-Trump voters. Priorities USA is taking the strategy it developed from this research, which it is calling Project BluePrint, on the road in coming weeks, including at the upcoming America Vote Summit in Washington, D.C., and via stops throughout the country." - "Half of all Obama-Trump voters had mixed feelings about voting for [Trump], the research indicated, and only 35 percent of them had confidence Trump would be a good president. Women without a college diploma made up a disproportionate part of this group." Full story. AIR FORCE - Sara Hernandez goes up on TV, hits Trump in CA-34 special election: Democrat Sara Hernandez, a former aide to Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar who's hired Sen. Kamala Harris' consulting team, is out with her first TV ad in a crowded primary. The TV ad will start airing in the district, along with a 15-second digital version, per a statement from her campaign. "How do you stand up to a bully? It takes a classroom teacher," a narrator says. "Sara isn't part of the establishment, or beholden to special interests. Sara's been kicking real butt for the community." The ad continues: "Teaching in LA Public Schools, founding a nonprofit to get low-income kids into college and helping revitalize downtown and open small businesses. Vote Sara Hernandez for Congress and take Trump Back to School." Watch the ad here. MORE SPECIAL NEWS - Republican Dan Moody enters GA-06 race: Former state Sen. Dan Moody, who also served on the state's transportation board, announced Monday he was joining the primary to replace Georgia Rep. Tom Price. "We talked the talk on the campaign trail, now Republicans need to walk the walk and make good on our promises," Moody said in a statement. "This is an historic opportunity to deliver on tax cuts, job creation, repealing Obamacare and shrinking the massive size of the federal government. The time for talking is over and the time for doing has arrived." State Sen. Judson Hill already launched his campaign, while former Secretary of State Karen Handel, who's seriously considering a bid, hasn't formally announced her intentions. - Moody's campaign personnel includes some big GOP names, per the Atlanta Journal Constitution: "Among them are a trio of Perdue veterans - Dan McLagan, Scott Rials and Jay Walker - who have run the campaigns of almost every newly elected U.S. House member in Georgia the past four years. Leigh Ann Gillis, a fundraiser who worked for both Perdues, has also signed on with Moody's campaign." Days until the 2017 election: 266. Days until the 2018 election: 631. Thanks for joining us. THE SIDES OF MARCH - A new online poll from SurveyMonkey attempts to illustrate exactly who participated in the Women's Marches following President Donald Trump's inauguration. The survey found 6 percent of adults participated in the marches, and 89 percent of them supported Hillary Clinton in the recent election. Another 5 percent backed Jill Stein, and 5 percent didn't vote. Marchers are also far more likely to say they plan to protest, write their member of Congress or attend a town hall meeting in the coming years. The marchers were 75 percent female, 70 percent white, 52 percent of them have college degrees and 43 percent of them earn $75,000 a year or more. Read the full results here. ROUND TWO - "South Florida businessman may take another shot at Ros-Lehtinen in 2018," by POLITICO Florida's Sergio Bustos: "Democratic congressional candidate Scott Fuhrman, who ran unsuccessfully last November to unseat veteran U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in South Florida, tells POLITICO Florida he's considering another run against her in 2018. 'I am giving serious consideration to challenging [Ros-Lehtinen] again,' he said. Fuhrman, who runs a family-owned bottling company in Miami, said he came the closest of any previous Democratic candidate to defeating Ros-Lehtinen last November when he lost by less than 10 points in the 27th congressional district race that includes Miami Beach." Full story. TRANSITIONS - Fletcher Rowley shuts down, founders launch new ventures: Democratic strategists John Rowley and Bill Fletcher "collaboratively and mutually decided to end our successful partnership" their communications and political media firm at the beginning of the year, and they are both turning to individual ventures, per Rowley in a statement. Fletcher launched Fletcher Ridge & Company, a communication firm for progressive clients. Rowley will "continue to selectively work on political, advocacy, public affairs and advertising campaigns, with a continued focus on TV, radio and digital media and messaging," Rowley's statement continued. Rowley also started a crisis communications firm called Crisis Red Team. - Knepper, Vidrine start DC-based political firm: Tommy Knepper, the RNC's Pennsylvania state director, and Brandon Vidrine, the RNC's Pennsylvania senior adviser, opened In Field Strategies, a political canvassing firm, per a spokesman for the group. The grassroots-focused group is taking on corporate and campaign clients across the country. AD WATCH - NRSC hits Tester on SCOTUS: The National Republican Senatorial Committee's small-scale paid media tour of the 2018 states is hitting Montana with billboards, airport ads and digital spots encouraging voters to call Democratic Sen. Jon Tester and tell him to support Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch. It's the first paid NRSC effort in Montana, per a statement from the group. ADMINISTRATION SPEED READ - "Flynn resigns as national security adviser," by POLITICO's Josh Dawsey, Alex Isenstadt, Tara Palmeri and Ei Stokols: "National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has resigned, a Trump administration official confirmed Monday evening. The resignation came amid a growing scandal over Flynn's contact with Russia's ambassador during the transition period, and his apparent obfuscations to Vice President Mike Pence about the calls." Full story. - "From Trump's Mar-a-Lago to Facebook, a National Security Crisis in the Open," by The New York Times' Michael D. Shear and Maggie Haberman: "President Trump and his top aides coordinated their response to North Korea's missile test on Saturday night in full view of diners at Mr. Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida - a remarkable public display of presidential activity that is almost always conducted in highly secure settings. The scene - of aides huddled over their computers and the president on his cellphone at his club's terrace - was captured by a club member dining not far away and published in pictures on his Facebook account. The images also show Mr. Trump conferring with his guest at the resort, Shinzo Abe, the Japanese prime minister. Shortly before the club member, Richard DeAgazio, who joined Mr. Trump's club recently, took the pictures, North Korea test-fired a ballistic missile into the sea off its eastern coast. Mr. DeAgazio posted his photographs to Facebook as the two leaders and their staff members reviewed documents and worked on their laptops, using cellphones as flashlights." Full story. - "Courts Still Proceeding With Lawsuits - And A New Injunction - Against Trump's Travel Ban," by Buzzfeed's Chris Geidner and Zoe Tillman: "While the Trump administration decides how to proceed with its fight against challenges to the president's refugee and travel ban, federal courts in Washington and Virginia on Monday dealt legal victories to those challenging the executive order. At a conference at the district court in the Washington v. Trump case that has led to the halted enforcement of the ban, US District Judge James Robart decided on Monday that the underlying lawsuit by the states of Washington and Minnesota can proceed while the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit addresses questions relating to his initial order." Full story. CODA - QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Stop complaining and do your job," former GOP Rep. David Jolly said of Trump on CNN.
