ELECT: GOVERN: RE-ELECT


I am writing to thank those who attended the SiX event at my home on February 16, as well as to all those who were not able to make it, to provide follow up regarding involvement in the SiX C3 and/or C4 programs. Those of you who attended had the opportunity to meet and dialogue with ED Nick Rathod. I would encourage those of you who weren't present to reach out to Nick and arrange to meet in NYC; either for a one on one meeting, a small group that you would arrange and/or to attend future NYC SiX events.

At this time I don't think THE CASE has to be made for focusing on our activities in the States. State elected officials directly impact the development and introduction of legislation as well as stopping/inhibiting regressive state legislation/regulations. They also draw Congressional and State Legislative districts which is critical as we get closer to 2020.

THE CASE that has to be made is how the national activist progressive community can best influence and promote its values, agenda and legislation within each state. And redistricting. I believe the answer is through support and participation in the State Innovation Exchange (SiX) through its C3 and/or C4 activities. I do not believe there is a viable alternative to SiX and there is no need to dilute our efforts through supporting or flirting with "competing" groups claiming an identical mission and effectiveness as SiX. This email includes details and links to the C3 and C4.

In my opinion SiX is the closest national progressive organization that is truly "grass roots" and is currently serving as the "glue" that binds the various progressive elected officials and groups throughout the country. SiX has the advantage of being "rooted" and having a physical presence in the grass roots- as opposed to the national political committees which have traditionally been "top down and located in DC

THE SIX "ELECT-GOVERN-RE-ELECT" OPERATING MODEL COMBINES AND EXECUTES MISSION AND STRATEGY:

* Simultaneously,

* Continuously

* Nationally

* The SiX apparatus does not disappear after each election cycle or appear only during an election campaigns. Its presence is permanent and continues to grow.

* Support of election and ballot measures at the state level.

* The cultivation, recruitment and training of candidates RESULTING IN ENLARGING AND STRENGHTING THE PROGRESSIVE BENCH AND PIPELINE OF STATE AND FEDERAL CANDIDATES.


The existence of SiX has already been proven to attract future state wide candidates.


THE SIX OPERATING MODEL OFFERS A CENTRALIZED NATIONAL RESOURCE AND STRATEGY CENTER FOR STATE ELECTED OFFICALS.


1- Regarding the creation, advocacy, drafting and passing of progressive legislation/regulations includes but not limited to:

o Working families

o Social and economic justice

o Pro choice

o Voter rights

o Anti-discrimination and specific pro LGBT rights

o Gun safety

o Organized labor

o Environmental protections

o Immigrant rights and protections

o State University tuition policies

o Campaign Finance
2-Regarding tools for state elected officials SiX offers:

o Systematic leadership, communication, issues and "how to legislate" training

o Coordinating to "sync" local with national narratives

o Organize and facilitate meetings and conferences where state elected officials meet and strategize with grass roots organizers

o Serves as liaison and facilitator between state officials and national progressive advocacy groups and their leadership

o Systematic information sharing and convening programs to ensure communication between the officials of other states


SiX DISTINGUISHES ITSELF FROM OTHER NATIONAL PROGRESSIVE/PARTY ORGANIZATIONS:


* SiX by definition is grass roots. Currently there are over 3,000 state elected officials who are active members of SiX. The list is continually growing.

* SiX is established in each state and offers and existing/permanent infrastructure and deep relationships with electeds; their operatives and relevant local/state political and policy organizations. THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE CASE WITH DEMOCRATIC PARTY COMMITTEES.

* SiX ED Nick Rathod has been an integral part of state politics for two decades and has proven to be a successful political operative within the states and towards federal entities.

* SiX is a permanent operating entity which serves to elect candidates and to support them in office. UNLIKE POLITICAL AND ELECTION COMMITTES SiX DOES NOT DISAPPEAR AFTER ELECTION DAY ONLY TO RE APPEAR MONTHS BEFORE THE NEXT ELECTION.

* SiX is perfectly positioned to cultivate and recruit future local, state and federal candidates "our bench".

* SiX training is focused on local/state issues.
