See below. Love you all. Uncle Jimmy doing better. Going home tomorrow. Obviously, he was Beau's too. They got to know each other through the Castle (Beau's fraternity) though clearly it went beyond that. He is a very nice man and hopefully you get to meet him soon. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Fager, Samuel <drsfager@aol.com<mailto:drsfager@aol.com>> Date: Thu, Feb 2, 2017 at 3:47 PM Subject: Re: Thinking of you and your family this week To: bidenn@sas.upenn.edu<mailto:bidenn@sas.upenn.edu> Cc: Samuel Fager <drsfager@aol.com<mailto:drsfager@aol.com>> Dear Nick, As you requested a few moments ago, here is the message that I had originally sent to you last Friday. Your advisor, Dr. Sam Sent from my iPhone On Jan 27, 2017, at 1:44 PM, drsfager@aol.com<mailto:drsfager@aol.com> wrote: Dear Nick, I hope that you are enjoying the first few weeks of this semester. With the end of fraternity rush, the start of pledging, and the beginning of classes, I recognize that you must be in the midst of an incredibly hectic month. I also realize that this next week could be a poignant one for you and your family. As you recall, Beau's birthday was February 3. Each year since he became my advisee, I have either written or telephoned him to wish him "Happy Birthday" even though I might not be able to see him in person. When he was out of town or in meetings, I would often talk with his administrative assistants who eventually knew me as Dr. Sam, his advisor from Penn. Sadly, this year will be the first one when I will not be able to send him an e-mail or leave him a message. Each one of us who knew Beau will remember him at specific times or dates. For me, February 3 is always going to be a day to recall how much I miss him. I realize that I cannot find sufficient words to console you or your family on his birthday this year. By writing to you today, however, I hope I have selected a time that is less emotional than next Friday may be to describe to you my great sense of loss as well as my great affection for you and your family. Please let your family know that I am planning to be your advisor throughout your years at the University as well as your cousin's advisor when she begins her classes at Penn in August. In the meantime, and as always, you are welcome to contact me if there is anything that I can ever do for you and your family. Your advisor, Dr. Sam
