Thank you, Martha, for sharing your experience as well as the uplifting
article! I too have been feeling a heaviness around the direction of this
administration and especially around the divisiveness among our citizens. I
constantly have to check my reactivity, not pose opposites, remember that
everyone is rational from their own perspective... and, yes, remember that
all perspectives matter. It normally comes easily for me (a "9") to value
all opinions. I get criticized sometimes for seeing the other side. But,
geez, it's been tough lately to remember to value all perspectives!

I was heartened to be among the crowd in DC on Saturday. I'm a reluctant
activist and didn't particularly want to march ("there will be a good
turnout - my presence won't make a difference" "will the crowd be much more
radical than I am?" etc etc). But honestly when I heard that Berlin, Paris,
Athens, Copenhagen, London, Florence -- and so many other cities I've been
fortunate enough to visit -- and countries I've yet to visit, like South
Africa and Kenya! -- were all holding marches in solidarity, I realized I
had to get off my couch, uber to the metro and go! How much easier could it
be?!! So off we went, signs in tow!

I was also heartened tonight when I went to my local "Indivisible" meeting
and found an overflow crowd of hundreds. People are engaged! I've been
making phone calls to my elected officials. My challenge is to stay
engaged, yes, and also to stay awake.

I am curious if any others of the DC Inspiration folks live in northern
Virginia -- I am in Herndon.
