This is a program leading to an appointment as a commissioned grade officer in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. In the selection of candidates for appointment as officers, decisions are made on the basis of all available and relevant information in respects to the applicant's background, in terms of education, intelligence, experience, and personal characteristics. For some of these qualities, subjective evaluations can be made from academic records, test results, and employment records. However, such intangible qualities, such as personal characteristics of the applicant, can best be evaluated by the objective ratings of those persons who have a personal knowledge of the individual. To this end, I ask you to check the appropriate columns on the attached rating schedule. Also, please fill in any comments you would consider pertinent and helpful to a panel of officers at Headquarters, United States Marine Corps, who must evaluate the officer potential of the applicant. Upon completion, at your earliest convenience please scan and email me your reference.


The information you furnish will be treated "confidentially". The attached rating schedule is authorized for use by Marine Corps Recruiting Command Order (MCRCO) 1100.2A. While you are not required to respond, your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
