We’ve just about reached the end of primary season, and the numbers are in: Outside groups spent almost $500 MILLION to influence the primaries, more than three times the amount spent during the same period in 2012. And we haven’t even reached the general election.

Citizens United opened the floodgates for anonymous political spending, and the consequences have been disastrous. Our democracy shouldn’t be for sale to the highest bidder – but until Congress reforms our campaign finance system, voters’ voices will continue to be drowned out by those of a few ultra-wealthy donors.

I’m urging my colleagues to take meaningful action to reform campaign finance, and I need you to speak out with me. Will you sign the petition today to demand reform?

We’ve seen the impact of Citizens United right here in Pennsylvania, where the Koch network has already poured millions of dollars into attack ads against Democrats this election cycle.

That’s not how our democracy should work. We can and we must restore fairness to our democracy and make sure the voice of the people isn’t drowned out by corporate special interests.
