Dear Colleagues,

This week, Bob Schieffer and I interviewed the Orlando Sentinel’s managing editor John Cutter for our new podcast “Bob Schieffer’s About the News.”

Cutter proved to be a fascinating interview—we learned more about what it was like to cover the Orlando nightclub attack with a relatively small newspaper staff (no one was staffing the newsroom when the massacre began). We discussed survival in the newspaper business for local papers and what happens when there is less media at the local level to cover city and state government.
