Hello Parents and Happy New Year! We are thrilled that you’ve signed your daughters up to play on the Sidwell Friends indoor Winter Ball lacrosse team. It’s going to be a lot of fun and will give the women a great opportunity to work on stick skills, conditioning, and situational play in advance of the spring lacrosse season. Your daughters received a similar email from us earlier today. The coaches wanted to connect with you and give you the details for the upcoming “season” which begins this coming Sunday, January 7, 2018 and runs through Sunday, February 25, 2018. Games take place at the Rockville SportsPlex (60 Southlawn Court, Rockville, MD 20850) Games begin on Sundays on the hour, anytime between 2 pm and 6 pm. The games each have two 20-minute halves with a running clock and a 5-minute halftime. The game this coming Sunday is against Whitman/Churchill and begins at 3:00 PM on Field #2. We understand that the remainder of the season’s schedule will be provided to us by 1/9/17 which we will forward to you. The coaches will provide a first aid kit and ball bag, but each player should bring her own equipment (goggles, stick, mouth card, suitable indoor footwear), a jug of water, and a snack if she wants. A dressed goalie with appropriate protective gear is mandatory for each game (we have 2 goalies signed up to play (Sadie and Emma) which is great — without a goalie, though, the team automatically forfeits. This coming Sunday, we ask that the players arrive at the Rockville Sportsplex at 2:30 PM so that we can hand out the jerseys and get ourselves organized. We have a large team, which is fantastic, that will allow for fast play and shorter high-energy shifts to prevent injury and exhaustion. So that we can plan appropriately for each game, please email the coaches by Saturday morning (10:00 AM) if you are NOT able to make it to Sunday’s game. We are certainly aware of the timing of this week’s game which comes in the middle of Midterm exams, so please let us know if your daughter will play or not as soon as you can.
