Hi everyone,

Happy snow day to you folks on the east coast! I wanted to share some upcoming BBF events. Please let me know if you’re interested in participating in any of them.

January 20, 2018 – Delaware 87ers (76ers minor league team) Beau Biden Foundation Night – Bob Carpenter Center, 631 South College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716 – 7 pm. This will be very similar to 2017’s event. We’ll be running programming before and during the game, our logo will be on the court and the Sevens players will be wearing BBF branded jerseys. We expect more than 2,000 people to attend this event, and we’ll have an opportunity at half time to address the crowd. Our relationship with Sevens has grown a lot this year. We’ll be working with them on trainings and going in to schools with their players for Internet Safety programming. This is an important relationship for us. I would also add that, in the last few weeks, the Sevens announced they’re building a new stadium on the Riverfront and they’ve expressed an interest in having some part of the facility dedicated to child protection.

March 17, 2018 – BBF Trail Run – Granogue Estate, Wilmington, DE – 9 am. Exactly the same event as the last two years. We expect over 650 runners and $25,000 raised for the BBF. The 10k course is challenging and technical, but the 5k course is much more manageable. This is a really, really great event and I hope some of you will be able to run this year. May 14, 2018 – BBF Sussex County Golf Outing – Peninsula Golf & Country Club, 32981 Peninsula Esplanade, Millsboro, DE 19966 – 10 am. We’ve heard from a number of our friends downstate that we need to do an event down there. We’re working with the same consultant for this event as we do for the Wilmington Country Club event in September. We believe we could raise between $75-100,000 and have about 60 golfers and more than 100 attending the reception. Like the event at WCC, we’ll have a silent auction, so if you have any ideas of items, please let us know. Online registration coming soon.

September 24, 2018 – BBF Golf & Tennis Invitational – Wilmington Country Club, 4825 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807 – 10 am golfer brunch, 11:30 tennis brunch, 5 pm cocktail reception. This will be exactly like the last three years – goal of $350,000 with 200 golfers and 250 people attending the reception. Depending on registrations, we may only have the two courses at Wilmington.

Thank you all! 2017 was an incredible year of growth for the BBF, and we look forward to doing even more in 2018. Folks in DE and beyond are starting to recognize the importance of the work we do - and in 2018 we’ll be starting to offer even more programming for youth serving organizations.
