When I heard these words from Sofia Sprechmann, Global Director of Programs at CARE International, I was truly overwhelmed. In 23 years Sofia has seen it all and to hear that from her, well, it left me stunned.

Never before has a devastated mother handed her a day-old baby girl and asked that she take her away.

This frantic, terrified mother is one of millions of people packed into overcrowded refugee camps in Nigeria. She's like so many women who are bearing the brunt of the crisis -- raped, starving, and driven from their homes by Boko Haram.

They have every reason to give up hope, but we can't let them do that, R.. We must step up our response and help these women.
