Bidens celebrate birthdays By AMIE PARNES | 11/23/10 12:18 PM EST Those Bidens, they just love celebrating a birthday. The vice president stopped by Potenza on Friday night (just blocks from the White House) to celebrate the birthday of his deputy press secretary and longtime aide, Annie Tomasini, an aide says. Joe Biden lingered for a while, chatting with veep staffers and friends. Earlier in the day, Jill Biden was at Cafe Asia on Eye Street to celebrate various staff members’ November birthdays, the aide says. But it's still unclear how the veep, who turned 68 on Saturday, celebrated his own big day. Earlier in the week, though, during their weekly lunch at the White House,President Obama wished Biden a happy birthday (complete with a handshake) after he was presented with a chocolate cake and candles, reveals a White House photo taken by Pete Souza. The picture also shows a small gift on the table, wrapped in gold paper and topped with a bow. Biden calls home 'kid friendly' By AMIE PARNES | 11/23/10 12:13 PM EST At a Thanksgiving dinner at the Naval Observatory for wounded troops and their families Monday night, Joe Bidengranted some of his guests (the children) the run of the place. "This is a kid-friendly home," the veep said, according to a White House pool report. "We're grandparents." The pool report said one toddler, the son of a staff sergeant, checked out the fireplace behind Biden and later wandered around the house's foyer. Eric D.
