Dear All, I am acutely aware that my absence and revised schedule during the past eight weeks has required increased work for some and major inconveniences for others. Please accept my deep gratitude for your support and patience through this time. Unfortunately, my treatment providers have strongly advised continuing care in the form of evening group sessions three times per week as crucial to sustaining treatment gains. Even more frustrating is the fact that the treatment groups begin at 5 pm all the way in Bethesda. I imagine this recommended phase of treatment will last through the end of the month and will be able to get a clear date for you in the coming days. I had an extensive discussion with my personal physician today about this dilemma, weighing the pros and cons of acting against medical advice in an attempt to make up for lost time at work. This is particularly difficult, because since regaining my health to a significant degree, my motivation and commitment to the firm has intensified, and I am eager to earn the trust and respect of colleagues whom I deeply admire and respect, to whom I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude. After much thought, I have decided to adhere to the medical advice and want to be as clear as possible to everyone about what my schedule is to avoid further confusion. I am determined to accommodate the demands of our workload going into the fall, as I have committed to returning full time, although that full time may not be on a traditional 9-5 schedule. As previously discussed, I will be leaving early Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays but am committed to making up for that lost time by coming in early and staying later whenever possible. At the very least, I want to do everything I can to limit the inconvenience on others and pull my weight as a team member. I look forward to finding mutually acceptable solutions to this temporary problem with my availability. Again, please accept my deepest gratitude for your continued support and patience through this time. Regards, Joa
