Kathleen and Hunter: As you know, my family lived in Kenya when I was growing up. We love the country and make every effort to visit as often as possible. During our most recent visit in July, my father and I spent a few hours in Kibera with Ken Okoth, the founder of a small organization that supports a range of education projects throughout the slum. It is an understatement to say that we were impressed by Ken and the power of his small foundation. While we have spent a lot of time in and around Nairobi, we have always been intimidated and overwhelmed by Kibera. Our visit with Ken really struck a nerve because we finally met someone who has a genuine connection with the community and has made a selfless commitment to improve the possibilities for children who are growing up in his old neighborhood. I hope you will be able to join us on November 13 to meet Ken and learn about his work. Ken's personal story is inspirational and his work has an enormous and lasting impact on many, many kids who have absolutely nothing in terms of shelter, personal security, nutrition, health care, and education. Attached below is a save-the-date for the briefing event Lisa Bernstein and I are co-hosting for small group of friends. This is NOT a fundraiser. We're not asking people for donations and our guest list for this event is modest - please do not share this invitation with others. I hope you'll be able to make it - Ken is an amazing guy. Rob p.s. Kathleen - thanks for hosting a fun dinner last night. Hunter: hope you enjoyed the game(s) - since you weren't there, we spent most of our time talking about you :) [image: Save the Date! - The Children of Kibera Foundation cordially invites you to a briefing with organization founder, Ken Okoth.
