DELAWARE: No GOP opponent for Biden in attorney general race

DOVER — Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden is not going to face a Republican opponent this fall.

The state Republican party failed to find a candidate to add to the ballot by Wednesday, which was the deadline to fill vacant spots for the Nov. 2 ballot.

The chairman of the Delaware Republican Party, Tom Ross, told The (Wilmington) News Journal that Biden's ability to raise "huge sums of money" was one reason potential Republican candidates kept out of the race. Ross added that it is "very disappointing" not to have a Republican to challenge the sitting Democrat.

Biden, who has held the office since 2006, still must defeat Independent Party candidate Doug Campbell to secure a second term.
