Biden draws the ire of PETA
Vice President Joe Biden drew cheers from a group of U.S. troops as he passed out hot dogs at a recent taping of comedian Stephen Colbert's show.

He drew boos from PETA.

The organization once known as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent the vice president a letter suggesting veggie dogs next time.

"You can't expect the troops to be lean, mean fighting machines if you're stuffing them with fattening, artery-clogging meat, eggs, and dairy products every day," said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman in a statement.

Reiman added: "These men and women have seen enough violence, so the nicest thing that the vice president can do is to spare animals from the violence of factory farming and turn our servicemen and servicewomen on to the lifesaving benefits of delicious vegan food."
