"Fire Pelosi."

That's what's written on the bright red sign that Republicans have had hanging from their national headquarters for the past four months. It's above the door -- and there's a smaller one in nearly every window.

It's designed to be provocative, but that's beside the point. It's not a gimmick. This is the exact message that Republicans are hoping to win with this fall: Roll back all the progress we've made and remove the leaders who helped shape it.

At this point, obstruction is the only leg the Republican Party has left to stand on. No ideas or positive messages -- just attack and tear down.

We have a different message: Keep moving America forward. Democrats are fighting to protect the progress we've made -- from historic health insurance reform to the strongest consumer protections ever enacted -- and we're working to undo the damage inflicted on our economy by a decade of irresponsible Bush-era policies and negligent enforcement.

That's why I hope they leave the sign up: Because the more Republicans continue to put their negative, obstructionist tactics on display like this, the clearer the distinction is between the two choices voters have this fall.

Speaker Pelosi put it best herself when she said: "If we weren't effective, they wouldn't be coming after us. They don't like the things that we have done. The special interests had all the leverage here. Now, the people have the leverage."

It's no wonder the Republicans want nothing more than to "fire" her.

For the past two years, Democrats have fought for -- and achieved -- reforms that actually work for the American people, not the special interests pandered to by the Bush-era policies.

But it wasn't easy. Our progress was steered by bold leaders like President Obama and Speaker Pelosi -- leaders who knew that now was the time for changes that had been in the works for a century. Other administrations and other Congresses had put these reforms on the agenda, but this Congress and this administration actually made good on them.

And while Republicans have been hanging signs and making webpages filled with fiery rhetoric, we've been spreading the facts -- making sure voters really understand exactly what is at stake in the November elections.

We have organizers on the ground in 50 states -- and we're arming them with resources to inform voters and call out Republicans. We're putting ads on the air to hold Republicans accountable for the things they say -- and what their plans would mean for Americans.
