Dear Friends:

Thank you for all that you did on my behalf for
yesterday's Democratic primary. Despite the significant forces lined up
against me, I achieved a victory with an overwhelming 84 percent of the
vote. This was the highest margin obtained by anyone on the ballot
yesterday for either house of the New York State Legislature.

This
great win could not have been accomplished without your support. Dozens of
you wrote letters, made phone calls, sent e-mails, and campaigned at poll
sites, subway stations and supermarkets for me over the past few weeks.
Hundreds of you make financial contributions to my campaign to ensure that
I would be able to get my message out. You proved that a legislator who is
willing to stand up for his constituents can do so without fear of losing
his political office.

This campaign is not over. This is a political
year like no other and, as the representative of a district which in which
only 53 percent of voters are registered Democrats, I am taking nothing
for granted. I look forward to seeing you back on the campaign trail for
November's general election but, for now, please accept my sincere thanks
for all that you have done for me this election season.
