DTEK Finance PLC, a large Ukrainian energy company that is ultimately owned by Rinat Akhmetov, filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection on Friday in New York. Chapter 15 is the provision of the Bankruptcy Code that governs recognition of foreign insolvency proceedings in the United States. In this case, DTEK is in the middle of an insolvency proceeding in the United Kingdom and filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy in the United States to prevent creditors from attempting to collect against DTEK in the US while the UK proceedings are pending.

It is not clear from the US bankruptcy documents whether Burisma is affected by DTEK's UK/US proceedings, but we wanted to bring this to your/Burisma's attention. Please let us know if you would like any additional information concerning DTEK's US or UK proceedings.
