Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope you had a good summer. I thought of you because I just got a campaign thing from Beau about kids and the internet. We're getting settled back in here in Peru. A new Ambassador arrives here in a few weeks. Should be interesting. Our last Ambassador was fantastic, and he's headed to Colombia to be the new Ambassador. I'm going to miss him. He and I worked closely together in drafting a U.S. government development strategy for Peru, which is being used as a model worldwide for development strategies. Fun stuff, but it was a lot of work during the first half of the year. Tracy's been given an offer to join USAID as a Foreign Service Officer. She's still on the fence as to whether she's going to accept the job. It will come down to how long she'll have to be apart from the kids, and whether it looks like she and I will be able to pull off onward assignments together. I'm not worried about that, though. We have at least two more years here, and we could always go back to Washington. I don't know if you remember Caleb Goddard from G-town. He just quit his job working for Bloomberg in Hong Kong after many years, and he's joining the Foreign Service. He's got too kids. I'd love for him to get assigned to Peru, but his language is French (his wife is French). Is Naomi going into her senior year this year? Any chance of her going to GU or are you going to try to get her into Yale and pretend you never slummed it with us? Seems like just yesterday that you were changing her diaper in the lounge at the law library. Time flies. Michael's in second grade now and is already getting crushes on girls (and getting teased about it). Smart, great kid, though. Olivia started kindergarten, and we're already getting calls from her teacher that she's misbehaving in class. Who misbehaves in kindergarten??? William is three, and all he wants is Tracy. He looks like her clone, too. Anyway, let me know what's new when you get a chance. I imagine life is still hectic for you. Get out of town. Come visit Machu Picchu with the family. Andy Andrew M.
