Registration is now open for the 2011 DAGA Fall Policy Conference to be held
at the Fairmont Mission Inn & Spa at 100 Boyes Boulevard, Sonoma, CA on
September 14-15, 2011. DAGA will visit California’s wine country for the
2011 DAGA Fall Policy Conference. We are offering a wine tasting, vineyard
dinner and great discussion at this year’s event. It promises to be one of

We expect a great turn out for this event and expect more than 14 AGs at
this year’s conference and up to 200 members and guests.

You should plan to arrive in Sonoma by 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2011
and remain until Friday morning, September 16, 2011 to participate in all
portions of the conference.

recommended in the save-the-date and DAGAZette. As predicted, the DAGA room
block at the Fairmont has sold out. In the event that you have not yet made
your room reservation, we recommend you check availability at one of the

In a relatively rare interview California Attorney General Kamala Harris
spoke with NPR earlier this week from the NAACP Convention on civil rights,
and getting smart about crime. General Harris presents a passionate
argument for changing the way we force our candidates to talk about crime,
as either being soft or tough and encouraging people to instead ask them to
be smart about our crime problem. During the interview she proposes new ways
to handle first time offenders and the importance of trying to prevent
crime, instead of just reacting to it.

Attorney General Harris made headlines last fall when after a close election
she became the first woman, African-American and South Asian-American to
hold the post of California Attorney General.
