I wanted to let you all know that I have *a new piece*

published in Just Security today, that addresses a question central to many
of our careers as well as the mission of Truman Center and Truman Project:
What, and where, is national security and foreign policy for liberals,
progressives, and other adherents to the 'liberal internationalist'
worldview?


In the piece, I argue that while the 'big tent' nature of the left always
makes for dissension on issues, we *can* confidently say that liberals,
progressives, et al have a set of common values that inform our foreign
policy worldview. These core pillars--which I name as protection,
inclusion, alliances, and global stability--taken together should make up
the architecture of a national security and foreign policy that sees
America as a strong, strategic, and moral leader at home and abroad. This
is the vision that I believe Truman has advanced for years in our work in
both policy and politics under your leadership. It was clear to me as an
active engaged member, and it remains clear as I work with members, staff,
and all of you in this role.


I look forward to any feedback you have on the piece, and to continuing
this essential conversation with Truman's membership and our allies
throughout the ecosystem. And as always, thank you for your continued
engagement and leadership in our critical work.
