** Josef Alber's Homage to the Square
------------------------------------------------------------

The Club is pleased to announce the installation of five newly gifted prints from Josef Albers’ Homage to the Square series. These works of art were generously donated by The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.

Josef Albers (1888-1976) served as Chair of the Department of Design at the Yale School of Art from 1950 to 1958. Albers was a legendary presence at Yale during the time he was there and exerted influence not only at the university, but throughout the art world, which is experiencing a resurgence of interest in his, and his wife’s, Anni Albers, work. Now on display in the Lobby, the prints offer a dazzling presentation of Albers’ work from his crucial series, which, in both paintings and prints, illustrated Albers’ color theories and technique of silkscreening.
