Dan - thank you very much for your response. I think it would be best to apprise the administration of our intention to send the letters urging that a meeting of the Security Council be convened to adopt the referenced resolution. I will contact colleagues at the State Dept and/or WH tomorrow unless you, Sandy or Hunter would prefer to reach out to officials in the administration. I think we should collaborate with with other organizations as this will increase the liklihood of success. I plan to issue a press advisory with copies of the letters after they are delivered. What do you think?

I think you should pursue. You need to decide how widely you publicize this, whether you should give a heads up to anyone at State or WH, and whether we do this alone (which is fine with me) or in conjunction with anyone else.

CNN (Anderson Cooper) had a very poignant piece on kids and famine in Somalia. On today.

Thank you very much. Per the recommendation in the Statement, I am planning to send letters to Secretary Clinton, the UN Secretary General and the current president of the Security Council suggesting that they call an immediate meeting of the Security Council to urge all nations to help secure unfettered humanitarian access to southern Somalia. Please let me know if you think I should not pursue this action. Thank you very much.
