Melinda, perhaps you and I can jump on the telephone this week to explore dates and other specifics. AB Anthony R. As I had mentioned last fall, I received a call from Vice President Biden shortly after Beau's funeral, and the Vice President had indicated an interest in coming to the Department of Justice at some time when Beau's service as AG would be remembered. The scheduling did not work out last year, but I wanted to suggest two possibilities if he was interested in joining us this year. The first, and easiest, is that we have never had a formal 'unveiling' of Beau's picture in the office's main conference room where all of the pictures of the past several Attorneys General hang. His picture was hung there shortly after his term of office ended, but there was no ceremony. No one I have spoken to can recall if there have been ceremonies for the pictures of AGs who preceded Beau, but we would be happy to have one on any date that was convenient for the Vice President when he is in town. We would invite everyone from the office, and it could either be a private or public event depending on the Biden family's preference. The second possibility is having the Vice President be present when this year's Beau Biden service award is given away. This is an annual service award to a long-term DOJ employee that we created in Beau's memory. There are two venues where we can do that: at our annual DOJ picnic at Lums Pond, which at noon on September 28, or at our annual DOJ continuing education retreat which is at the Atlantic Sands in Rehoboth on October 17th. Both attorneys and non-attorney staff attend the September picnic, only attorneys attend the continuing education retreat. These two options are obviously less convenient for the Vice President, but the advantage of doing it at one of these events is that the courts usually do not schedule cases during them, so all of our attorneys will be present, as opposed to a regular work day when a fair number on any given day must be in court. Please let me know if you would like us to follow up on any of these options. Beau was very important to a lot of people who work here, and this seemed like something that was important to the Vice President, so I wanted to be sure I tried to see this through. Matt Denn Delaware Attorney General
