CP Parents - I just looked at the radar again and it appears that the rain
will arrive between 5:30 and 6 (70 to 95% probability depending on which
weather service you look at). And given the email I received from Corey at
Holy Cross a couple of hours ago (copied below), it is best we cancel. She
says that any rain will cause us to cancel, and it seems very likely. Sorry
for the late cancellation, but this saves you all a drive in rush hour
traffic!


Please have your daughters work with their sticks at some point this
afternoon and later this week. I will give you an update on LaxSlash once I
hear back from their scheduler.

Please be aware that we are under a Severe Weather Warning, so any rain
between now and your rental start time will cause us to close the fields for
practices tonight. If that is the case I will contact you both via email,
but please be aware that this is a possibility, even if it is short notice.

As always, please be sure to take cover in a e location if it begins to
storm during your practice. do not allow the kids to stay on the field you
hear thunder. see weather alert that we got this morning below.

Line of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds possible this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for
Montgomery County until 6pm. Severe Thunderstorms are possible this
afternoon and evening. The primary threat with these storms include
extremely damaging winds, heavy rain, large hail, lightning, and isolated
tornadoes.

Those with outdoor plans should monitor the skies and be prepared for
threatening weather. Lightning is the number one severe weather killer in
the US. If you are outdoors and storm approaches, seek safe shelter indoors.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH means conditions are favorable for severe storms
in and close to the watch area. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do
produce tornadoes with little or no advanced warning. Residents should be on
the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later
statements and possible warnings.

SKYWARN activation has been requested and spotters are asked to relay any
reports to the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management, and the
National Weather Service office in Sterling, VA.

Subject: Lax Practice tonight at 5:30 at Holy Cross


CP Parents - Nice win for the girls yesterday with lots of different players
scoring, and some nice assisted goals. And we won the battle for groundballs
in all 4 quarters. We had a few defensive letdowns which cost us some goals,
but all in all it was a great effort by the team.


We are planning to have practice tonite at 5:30. However, there is a line of
clouds moving in from the west that is bringing showers and possibly a
thunderstorm. But it looks clear behind these clouds.


I would like to revisit the weather situation at 4:00 and make the final
call then by email. If anyone needs to know sooner than that, let me know
and I will make the call sooner. This is our last opportunity to practice
before Lax Splash, and so if we can practice we should.


Thanks again to the Shrivers for hosting the team yesterday. Jeanne, my only
comment is that next time I will bring in a lifeguard to prevent
roughhousing around the pool, and to make sure no one gets thrown in!
