In Need of Extra TLC Abandoned Pup is Fighting for Life Summer can be so, so difficult for homeless animals. This adorable pup and her 5 siblings were seen being carried by their mother and left at a rural VA farm. The mother, a stray dog who has apparently been seen before doing the same (trying to get her puppies to safety) ran off and was not seen again. The farmer who took them in quickly found homes for 2 of them. But the other 3 remained on the farm until a lovely HT volunteer learned about them. By the time she arrived to get them one had died and the other 2 were in dire shape. They were immediately taken to the vet and one was triaged with good results. The other was in such bad shape that he had to go immediately to the emergency vet for a transfusion if we were to give him a fighting chance. The pups were covered in fleas and ticks, dehydrated, malnourished, full of intestinal worms, anemic and who-knows-what-else. While we are heartbroken that we arrived too late for the one who died, we now are trying to give the sickest one a chance. Please consider a donation of any size to assist. Our medical fund dips very, very low in the summer when we are hit with hundreds of sick and injured animals and many people are traveling and not able to keep up with our pleas for donations. This puppy is so new we haven't even given him a name! But we want to cover the $2000 blood transfusion bill and nurse him back to health so he can be given a proper name and find a loving home!
