<p><span style="font-family: Georgia,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: regular;"><span style="font-size: 17px;">“I would certainly meet with Iran if they wanted to meet,” Trump said in a press conference alongside Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte. </p><br />
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: regular;"><span style="font-size: 17px;">“They want to meet, I’ll meet, whenever they want,” he added. </p><br />
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: regular;"><span style="font-size: 17px;">Iran’s Foreign Ministry <a style="color:#ea1414;font-weight:bold;text-decoration:none;" href="http://click1.crm.foreignpolicy.com/skmmmdhphjmtbbbctcjdltzhgrtddzpclcbprlkpmrrb_gggcgkkcwdcrggwkgnyw.html">shot down</a> the prospect of a meeting between Trump and Rouhani shortly after Trump’s announcement. </p><br />
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: regular;"><span style="font-size: 17px;">“With current America and these policies, there will definitely not be the possibility of dialogue and engagement, and the United States has shown that it is totally unreliable,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said at a news conference in Tehran.</p><br />
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: regular;"><span style="font-size: 17px;">In early May, Trump <a style="color:#ea1414;font-weight:bold;text-decoration:none;" href="http://click1.crm.foreignpolicy.com/fnnjjflylqjwdddbwbqfrwclpswffcybrbdysrnyjsss_gggcgkkcwdcrggwkgnyw.html">announced</a> that the United States would withdraw from the nuclear agreement between Iran and major world powers and would re-impose sanctions on the regime. He has often struck a hawkish tone on issues involving Iran. </p><br />
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: regular;"><span style="font-size: 17px;">Last week, he <a style="color:#ea1414;font-weight:bold;text-decoration:none;" href="http://click1.crm.foreignpolicy.com/vgjhhtzyzrhnfffknkrtmnqzcvnttqykmkfyvmgyhvvp_gggcgkkcwdcrggwkgnyw.html">tweeted</a>, in all-caps, that Iran would “suffer consequences few throughout history have ever suffered before” if it threatened the United States.</p><br />
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: regular;"><span style="font-size: 17px;"><b>Korean Peninsula: </b>North and South Korea <a style="color:#ea1414;font-weight:bold;text-decoration:none;" href="http://click1.crm.foreignpolicy.com/fnrjjflylqjwdddbwbqfrwclpswffcybrbdysrnyjssb_gggcgkkcwdcrggwkgnyw.html">engaged </a>in military talks where they discussed reducing tensions between the two states but did not announce any detailed agreements.
