Dear Student,I hope you are enjoying the summer! I’m writing to let you know that your 2018-19 academic schedule is ready to be viewed through QuakerZone found by logging into the Student Portal. To view your schedule:Go to http://www.sidwell.edu. From the Community dropdown, select “Students” and then login using your Sidwell username (just the beginning of your email) and password.Click QuakerZone and you will immediately see a list of your first semester classes. To view your first semester schedule: click “Weekly Schedule”. To view your future classes (e.g. second semester classes, Winter and Spring sports): click “Daily Schedule”->”Student Overview”->”Future”.If you have any difficulty accessing your schedule, please email Director of Academic Technology Darby Thompson (thompsond@sidwell.edu).Books: The virtual bookstore is not yet available. As soon as the bookstore is open, I will send an email to alert you, along with instructions for ordering your books. I apologize for the delay. A Note about Oversubscribed Courses:Visual Arts Classes:All visual arts classes are fully enrolled at this time. If you wish to change or add a visual arts class, please email me to be added to the waitlist. If you wish to drop a visual arts class, please use the Course Change Google form at the bottom of the QuakerZone homepage.10th Grade Regional History Courses: A few of the 10th Grade Regional History courses were oversubscribed, so students who requested an oversubscribed course were randomly placed where there was space. We are not able to add any students to a fully enrolled 10th Grade Regional History Course. 12th Grade History Electives:Every effort was made to honor student rankings for 12th grade history electives, but many of the courses were oversubscribed. A random lottery approach was used to place students in oversubscribed courses. 12th Grade English Classes: All 12th Grade English classes are fully enrolled at this time. Changes to 12th Grade English classes will not be possible. Course Change Requests: If you wish to change a course, please use the Course Change Google Form found at the bottom of the QuakerZone homepage. Please bear in mind that many courses are fully enrolled, so we will keep a waitlist for those courses.Placement Exams: Students who have been previously notified that they need to take a placement exam for language, math, or science may do so on August 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in room 104/06. Please email Ms. Morillas (morillasj@sidwell.edu) to confirm that you will take your placement assessment on August 29. If you need to contact me to discuss your schedule, please email Ms. Morillas (morillasj@sidwell.edu) to arrange a time to speak. I will be out of the office from July 23 until August 6 with limited access to email. If you are not able to schedule a time to speak with me before July 23, there will be plenty of time in mid-August for us to address any issues with your schedule before school starts.I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer. I look forward to seeing you soon! All the best,Min Kim, Ph.D.Assistant Principal and Academic DeanSidwell Friends School Sidwell Friends School 3825 Wisconsin Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20016 (202) 537-8100 www.sidwell.edu [external link removed]
