Dear Parents of 6th Grade Students, As we wind down the last few weeks of school, there are quite a few events – for parents and students -- you should mark on your calendars. We also *need parent volunteers* to help make each of these gatherings successful. Please take a look at upcoming activities and let the person who is coordinating an event know if you will be able to assist. - *6th Grade Hangout – *Tuesday, May 24th - *5/6 Grade Orchestra / 6th Grade Choral Concert – *Thurs. June 2nd & Fri., June 3rd* * - *Ice Cream Social for Rising 7th Graders –* Sunday, June 5th - *World Expo – *Monday, June 6th *6th Grade Hangout – Tuesday, May 24th** * This is the third and final hangout for this school year. Please make sure your 6th-grader has reserved time to gather, socialize and relax with other students in the grade from *2:00pm to 3:30pm *on *Tuesday, May 24th.* Students will be gathering in the plaza area between the new gym and the football field. We still need many more parent volunteers! We need your assistance with setup/cleanup and to help chaperone. If you are able to volunteer please contact Portia at portia.robertson.migas@gmail.com *5/6 Gr. Orchestra / 6th Gr. Choral Concert – Thurs., June 2nd & Fri., June 3rd * Parents will have the opportunity to hear the music our students have been studying! The sixth grade chorus and 5/6 instrumental ensembles will present their end-of-semester concert on *Thursday, June 2nd at 7:30pm* & *Friday, June 3rd at 2:30pm* in the Kogod Arts Center. Attendance is *required *for students and parents are most welcome at *both* concerts! Dress for *both* concerts is “Black and Whites”. *Girls:* Dark pants or skirt (must be knee length), white top, dark shoes (no tennis shoes) *Boys:* Dark pants, white dress shirt with collar, any color tie, dark shoes (no tennis shoes) There are many wonderful traditions associated with the Thursday evening concert and it only seems as if they happen by magic. If you are able to volunteer for the event, please contact Amy Elsbree at elsbree@nlc.org * * *Ice Cream Social for Rising 7th Grade Families –** Sunday, June 5th * The Welcome Committee is sponsoring this very special event for the entire family. It’s a fabulous opportunity to meet new friends and catch up with others. New and returning families, with rising 7th grade students, will be gathering in the Wetland Garden from *2-4:00pm on Sunday, June 5th.* In case of rain, we will be meeting in the Middle School lobby. Stop by to enjoy the ice cream and the conversation. Students new to the school will be participating in a scavenger hunt, so they’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the campus. If your student would like to serve as a guide or you would like to volunteer, please contact Co-Clerk of the Middle School Welcome Committee, Sung Hee Kim at sungheekim@comcast.net *World Expo – Monday, June 6th * Families of 6th grade students are invited to the Sixth Grade Expo on *Monday, June 6th *from *4:00pm to 5:30pm.* Please plan to have your child stay after school that day, as students will be helping to set up for the Expo. The event, a culmination of the work of all students from all their classes, is meant to celebrate the accomplishments and knowledge of our sixth graders. We’ll gather, first, in the new Meeting House. At 4:30pm, the event will move to the 2nd floor of the Middle School, where parents will be able to view some of the projects on which our children have been working. We’ll need volunteers to provide refreshments for this gathering, and help with set-up/cleanup for the event. Please contact Hillary, at htlake@ltlstrategies.com, if you would like to help. Best regards, Claire Dwoskin (CD@dwoskin.com) Amy Elsbree ( Elsbree@nlc.org) Portia Robertson Migas (Portia.Robertson.Migas@gmail.com) Hillary Thomas-Lake (HTLake@ltlstrategies.com
