Nautical Gin Tasting

Nautical Gin is the first product released by Vertical Spirits, a brand dedicated to developing premium spirits that embody the company’s “Spirit of Adventure” mission. Fifteen exotic ingredients were collected from around the world, including a rare coastal botanical, Pacific Kombu – the inspiration for the brand’s name, to create this new gin with a coastal quality reminiscent of stones washed by the ocean tide.

Join fellow members for a tasting and cocktail-making session on the Roof Terrace this summer with Nautical Gin. Reservations are available for $30 per person, plus tax and gratuities, and includes a series of small bites.

What are the keys to winning baseball’s ultimate prize? Join Ben Reiter ’02, the senior writer for Sports Illustrated, who predicted the Astros would win the 2017 World Series three years before they did it, and Ron Darling ’82, the former Yale and Mets pitcher and current TV analyst, for a special evening at the Club.

They will discuss their new books – Reiter’s Astroball and Darling’s Game 7, 1986 – and reveal the combination of traditional and cutting edge analytical techniques that are essential to success not just in the national pastime, but in any endeavor.

A reception will begin at 6:30 pm, followed by the conversation at 7:00 pm.

Summer Rooftop Party: Calypso Time

Nothing says summer in New York City like looking over Manhattan from the Roof Terrace of the Club, cocktail in hand. Join fellow members on the Club’s Roof Terrace for a calypso-inspired party.

Calypso is a style of Afro-Caribbean music that originated in Trinidad and Tobago from African and European roots. Originating as the “voice of the people”, Calypso began gaining popularity with the worldwide audience in the late 1930s, and became a worldwide craze with the release of the “Banana Boat Song” or “Day-O,” a traditional Jamaican folk song in 1956.

Join us for our delightful hors d’oeuvres, live calypso-themed music, and drink specials from a chit bar.

All-Ivy Beer Tasting at the Harvard Club

The Harvard Club once again welcomes fellow Ivy League Club members for the annual Summer All-Ivy Beer Tasting. This year, we will be joined by Justin Kennedy, beer expert and the author of the Scratch and Sniff Guide to Beer – A Beer Lover’s Companion. He has put together a tasting of beers made exclusively in the City.

Members will sample beers from six of these breweries, and representatives from the breweries will be on hand to answer questions. Accompanying the beers will be a menu of international dishes, reflecting the culinary influence of immigrants on New York City food.
