Dear Hunter,

This month marks Women’s History Month and the kick-off of Women for Brown.


I’m incredibly proud of the support I’ve received from women across the district and those who believe in leveling the playing field for Maryland women and their families.


From closing the pay gap, to passing paid sick leave legislation to making higher education more affordable. There’s more to be done to ensure equal rights and improve economic opportunity for all women, especially African-American women and their families.


I’ve been fortunate to have many strong women in my life, including my cousin Cathy, who was taken from us too soon. My family is one of many families that has been touched by domestic violence. Cathy’s story is what inspired me to champion a law that takes guns out of the hands of domestic abusers here in Maryland. And her story continues to inspire me to do more to strengthen domestic abuse laws and fight for stricter gun control measures.


This month and every month we must remember the women who came before is who stood up for equal rights, equal pay and equal opportunities for women to achieve the American Dream.


In Congress, I will continue fighting for Maryland women and their families. We must continue to carry on the work of President Obama to bring that progress back to the 4th District.
