Dear Seniors: A number of you have emailed to inform us that you will be unable to attend any of the meetings scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Since we feel confident that many of you have a strong foundation for your applications after attending the application workshop, we have instead decided to share the information with you during the first week of senior college workshop, to be held the week of September 10. Each of you has a workshop period built into your schedule, and attendance is mandatory during the required workshop weeks (September 10 - 15, October 1 - 5, October 22 - 26, and November 12 - 16). - New College Counseling Office Location. The College Counseling Office will be located on the ground floor of Zartman House. When visiting the College Counseling Office, visitors are welcome to park in the Zartman Circle and sign in will occur at the front desk of Zartman House as you enter through the Wisconsin Ave door. The CCO phone number and CCO email addresses have remained the same. A few additional updates: - Within the first two weeks of school, please (the student - not parent) see or email Jackie Morillas to schedule an individual meeting with your college counselor. Students when you email Jackie Morillas please indicate in the email which periods you have free. At least one one-on-one meeting is required before November 1. - You should have already asked one teacher for a recommendation letter. If not already completed, you need to ask for your second teacher recommendation by the end of the first week of school (September 7). o Once a student has had a conversation with their teacher and they have agreed to write, students must fill out this Google form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe_HWBuhbpmF3ECVMyLobhxKG2_EwIaLShAHQVp1h_G_bcMlA/viewform>. o If you have any questions about the recommendations, please speak to your college counselor. - Senior work days are September 24, October 8, October 19, and November 9. You should use these days to visit colleges, work on applications, or catch up on school work. - Seniors have an additional three "flex" days they can use at their discretion throughout the year to take the day off to visit colleges. Please see your college counselor to obtain a "flex" form when needed. Students must ask for the approval flex form at least one week in advance of their planned visit. - PARENTS: The senior parent night will be held on Thursday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the RLS Meeting Room. This meeting will outline the policies/procedures for the upcoming months, so we encourage all parents to attend. Students are not present for this meeting. Take care, The College Counseling Office
