Construction continues to move along on schedule. LOWER LEVEL: We have completed an interim walk-through of the spaces to look at what needs to be added to a “punch list” of detailed finishes. In addition, we are reviewing use of the spaces by the students and teachers, and how the spaces and finishes are meeting the needs of the teaching and learning activities. THE FIRST FLOOR: New furnishings for student, teacher, and administrator uses will be added to the Manor side of St. Norbert Hall’s first floor beginning on Monday, February 29. Mr. Jordan and Mr. Dougherty’s offices, the theology department staff offices, and four refurbished classrooms will also be ready by February 29. The boys’ bathroom is refurbished and currently functional. SECOND FLOOR: Five new classrooms, a conference room, and faculty workroom have been finished and were added for use on Monday, January 25, on the second floor of the Library/Learning Commons. Now the Manor side of the second floor, including five classrooms, will be closed for renovations beginning Monday, February 29. During renovation of their space, the history department office has been relocated to the first floor of Saint Norbert Hall, in a classroom opposite the Technology Center, where the theology department staff members were also temporarily located. SUPPORT FOR RECONSTRUCTION: Students and teachers have been wonderfully supportive of the renovation project that is taking place while they continue to use the building. The EDiS oversight of the project has also been very well managed and sensitive to the demands of our academic program. With all parts of the project on schedule, we expect to complete renovations for the start of the new school year in September 2016. While all of this renovation news is most positive from the construction perspective, from a project support perspective, your financial support is needed for the final phases of the project in order to not burden operations and place a pressure on tuition. YOU CAN HELP: We continue to ask for your help in three specific ways: 1. Be receptive to a meeting with a staff member or volunteer who contacts you to discuss the project and asks for your participation by making a financial commitment at a level appropriate for you. All gifts are valued and welcomed. 2. Contact us for information or plan to attend meetings scheduled in the future to discuss the project. Consider your decision, and learn about the many gift-naming opportunities that are available. 3. Once you have made your personal commitment to the program, consider becoming a SNH Project volunteer and help us talk to others about the project and its benefits to our students. We hope to achieve a high level of participation and support from all members of the Archmere community, so that we can demonstrate our commitment to other potential donors outside of the Archmere community. For more information, or to offer your assistance, contact Katherine Ball-Weir, CFRE, Director of Institutional Advancement, at kballweir@archmereacademy.com or 302-798-6632 ext 857. Sincerely, Michael A. Marinelli, Ed.D. ’76, Headmaste
