Good morning everyone! Thanks so much for the work that resulted in the SWOT document. Special thanks to Robert and his team for the preparation of this document. It is an outstanding framework. I have a few thoughts on the various sub-headings: Opportunities: I am not a fan of the “most affected” messaging, as it allows large groups to brush off the problem as a problem of the poor. Beau frequently commented on this issue; we saw in Bradley all socio-economic groups were equally affected and harmed. In the most recent "teacher sexually abusing students" case in Delaware, all of the victims are from well educated, financially secure, well-off families. Some of the most well kept secrets of mass sexual abuse have been from elite schools—que, the Horace Mann School. I think we must be careful to not allow people off the hook.We need all parents to recognize that their children are at risk, and not encourage a group of families to brush the problem off as a “not in my social circle" issue. Rather, I view our ability to speak with authority on a serious crisis that cuts across socio-economic lines as a more important opportunity or strength or an opportunity. (Admittedly not yet fully conversant on the SWOT messaging:) Also, I do think we should have something about shaping the message to include/highlight the health risks of sexual abuse as a primary threat of the problem. The health message puts us into a place where we can seek funding from a larger group of well financed organizations. Weaknesses: I would rephrase the risk of passing statutes without teeth, to a risk that statutory mandates to protect children lack necessary funding. The issue is unfunded mandates, not lack of enforcement tools. On the Tiers of people to work with, I would strike Matt Denn. He does not seem to have any interest in this issue. They have cut back on ICAC funding and already broken apart a major part of Beau’s messaging around children and families-to connect the dots in the system. As for the AGs, AG Pam Bondi of Florida is the co-chair of RAGA and wants to host a fundraiser, AG Karl Racine wants to co-chair that and he is the incoming DAGA chair. I have spoken too them both. As for print media, and I say this knowing very little about media, but I would add the Boston Globe to this list. I would think given the success of Spotlight, we should look to some Hollywood types. Thanks to everyone for their participations.
