The Executive Committee should meet regularly to review the budget after the end of each quarter, with the goal to adjust the timing of activities that might be on hold under the reduced budget. The next meeting will be scheduled for April. </div><div id="AppleMailSignature">Additionally, the Executive Committee should take on the additional role of overseeing the organization's finances, and evaluate when and whether a separate Finance Committee should be established.</div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"> B. Rick should proceed to add fundraising staff on the timing he thinks is most effective for their performance against their plans for this year.</span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br></span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"> C. We were very clear with Rick that we believe the team's performance is above average and that the operations are in very good shape. Our concerns were based on uncertainty about the larger context of the economy.</div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"> D. The design work for reconstruction of the workplace is complete, and we can re-evaluate taking on remodeling as the year progresses.</div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="AppleMailSignature">2. In the separate executive session of the committee, we reviewed Rick's performance self-assessment and his potential salary increase.</div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><u><b>Hunter</b>, if you agree with the below comments and recommendations, would you please communicate this information to Rick next week when you are back in town, and then let us know when that is done?</u></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><u><br></u></div><div id="AppleMailSignature">Some points you may find helpful to share with Rick:</div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"> A. Overall, we are very happy with his leadership performance. WFP-USA greatly exceeded expectations on USG funding.</span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br></span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"> B. He met expectations on his other key factors, with the exception of fundraising. Individual fundraising is going well. Corporate fundraising less so, but we recognize that is hampered by WFP's processes (or lack thereof).</span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br></span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"> C. We appreciate the impact he and the team have had to increase the public's general awareness of hunger issues, and recognize the influence that has on public funding as well.</span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br></span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"> D. WFP-USA is well positioned to have improved performance with this year.</span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"> E. <u>As to salary</u>: given his and the organization's performance, we concluded that his compensation should reflect that impact. While the data seems to indicate his base is well in line with other DC area NGO CEOs, we recognized that many of those organizations may be smaller in terms of budget or personnel, and very likely smaller in terms of impact. Thus, we are recommending an increase to $360,000 (about 10%), which takes him above the 75th percentile on the data.</span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br></span></div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">In that context, we would like Rick to develop some specific metrics (financial performance, fundraising goals, etc.) that he could use as part of his performance goals starting in 2017.
