Members of the Board:

As you already know, Mike will be transitioning out of his role at Truman to become President and CEO of Human Rights First. I'm very grateful for his leadership over the years, and am excited for this new opportunity.

As Truman Project Chairman, together with Truman Center's Chairman Greg Craig, we will form a search committee to find a permanent replacement for the chief executive of Truman. We will share more details about this in the coming weeks.

In the immediate term, we need to name an interim Executive Director prior to the public announcement of Mike's departure, which is scheduled for Thursday afternoon. The interim Executive Director will be empowered as chief executive in order to execute the organization's current strategic plan, adapting the plan as necessary in consultation with the Board, until such time as the Board completes a deliberate process to select a new CEO.

We would like to nominate, and confirm through a board e-mail vote, Bishop Garrison as interim Executive Director. Bishop has been a member of the Truman community since 2013, and has recently joined staff as Managing Director of Policy and Advocacy. His full bio and headshot are attached here for more information. I have had the opportunity to meet with Bishop already, and am sure you will agree that he is extremely well-equipped to lead the organization's work in the immediate term.

Please respond to me and Meghan Valle (mvalle@trumanproject.org<mailto:mvalle@trumanproject.org>) by end of day on Wednesday 9/5 with your vote to confirm Bishop as interim Executive Director in advance of the public announcement on Thursday.
