Announcing Mary Kadera as Inspired Teaching’s Interim Executive Director Mary has more than 25 years of experience in the education field (https://inspiredteaching.org/inspired-teaching-welcomes-mary-kadera-interim-executive-director/?utm_source=Master+List+%28Uploaded+8.24.18%29&utm_campaign=789f467e77-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_09_05_03_29&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_2e045db702-789f467e77-86256945) , working in a variety of capacities to support educators and students and to transform K-12 teaching and learning so that it is more engaging, effective, relevant, and joyful. She has most recently worked as a strategic planning consultant with nonprofits including The George Lucas Educational Foundation, Learning Forward, TED, PBS, and others. She began her career as a high school teacher of English and Biology in Virginia's public schools. A message from outgoing Executive Director, Jane Dimyan-Ehrenfeld & Inspired Teaching Board Chair, Shelley Fidler Ten years ago, Aleta Margolis reached out to the author and advocate, Jonathan Kozol, to invite him to speak at an Inspired Teaching alumni conference. Jonathan was unavailable to travel to DC for the event, but he asked if I could speak in his place. Aleta agreed, I agreed, and I quickly fell in love with Inspired Teaching and its mission. Six years (and three kids!) later, I was invited to join the Board of Directors, and eagerly came into the Inspired Teaching family. Not long afterwards, I joined the staff, and soon moved into the role of Executive Director, as Aleta transitioned into the role of Founder & President. It has been a beautiful, thrilling, and challenging ride, and I have learned an incredible amount, met extraordinary people, and had the opportunity to work toward the vital vision of Inspired Teaching: A future in which every person is prepared to thrive in and contribute to our complex and rapidly changing world, through an education that teaches students how to think. It has been a dynamic and fruitful 2 1/2 years - but I must step aside as personal matters require my attention. I look forward to a wonderful future for Center for Inspired Teaching, and I will always stay actively connected to the organization. I would love to keep in touch with members of the Inspired Teaching community (you!). Just reply to this email and I'll send my contact information. With deep gratitude and appreciation for all of the wonders the last 4 years have held, Jane Dimyan-Ehrenfeld As Board Chair of Inspired Teaching I want to use this opportunity to update our friends, alumni, colleagues, supporters and funders and to express my appreciation to all of you for your continued partnership as we work side by side to bring about the day when every child has an Inspired Teacher. We will miss Jane’s leadership, enormous energy, and contributions to Inspired Teaching as our Executive Director. But we look forward to continuing to keep her close in the Inspired Teaching family. Her ambition for us to grow our reach and our programs will continue and accelerate as she planned. As Jane steps down, we proudly welcome Mary Kadera as our Interim Executive Director. We can’t wait to introduce her to those of you who don’t already know her. Mary will lead Inspired Teaching in continuing to grow our reach and impact as we strive to shift the school experience for all children from compliance-based to engagement-based. You, our friends and colleagues, inspire us to unlock the potential for every teacher to be an inspired teacher and every child to be an expert, deeply and joyfully engaged in their learning communities. Thank you. We look forward to continuing to work together toward our shared goals for students and teachers in the DC region and beyond.
