As we celebrate International Women's Day today and the progress that women
around the world have made, we must also commit to efforts that will
overcome the significant obstacles that still stand in their way.

This year, the National Democratic Institute is launching a campaign to
stop violence against women in politics. Physical and psychological
violence is real and has long-lasting consequences. Often women are told
that such violence is "just the cost of politics."

But it must not be the cost. You can help:

* Learn more about the issue by reading today's op-ed [1] by former
Secretary of State and NDI Chairman Madeleine Albright.

* Watch and share this video [2] featuring global leaders and activists
who are calling for an end to violence against women in politics.

\u200b * Join us in New York City [3] on March 17th where NDI will launch a
global call to action on this issue.

Whether you are a voter, civic activist, political party leader,
parliamentarian, prime minister, or president, you have a role in ending
violence against politically active women. Please stand up today. When it
comes to women in politics, violence is #NotTheCost [4].
